Before 2026 ends, individuals born under certain birth stars (nakshatras) are advised to purchase and light a Lakshmi lamp at home to ward off difficulties and attract prosperity, according to a recent video from Infinity Stories. The video emphasizes that those born under stars including Pooram, Pooradam, Ayilyam, Thiruvonam, Ashwathi, Thiruvathira, Punartham, Pooram, Makam, Revathi, Uthradam, Bharani, Pooruruttathi, Vishakham, and Makayiram should follow this practice.
Two types of lamps are recommended: the Ashtalakshmi lamp, which brings all eight forms of wealth, and the Gajalakshmi lamp, which specially enhances financial prospects. The video cautions against buying lamps with defective or distorted faces of Goddess Lakshmi, as that could bring negative effects.
Lighting the lamp once a week, preferably on a Friday or Sunday evening, with oil or ghee, is said to bring five major benefits: financial prosperity, success in endeavors, good health and longevity, removal of mental distress, and forgiveness of past sins. The ritual involves cleaning the lamp with tulsi water, placing it on a plate, and offering flowers or turmeric powder while reciting the mantras ‘Om Shreem Shreeye Namaha’ (three times) and ‘Om Sarvajne Sarvavarate Sarvadushta Bhayankari Sarvalokaika Matruve Mahalakshmi Namostute’ (three times). The video insists that this practice ensures the protection and upliftment of the entire household.
